Norris F. Shook peacefully passed away on February 23, 2009 at the home of his daughter, Jeanne Arterberry, in Red Bluff, California. He was 90. Norris was born in Roseburg, Oregon on February 28, 1918 to Bertha and Harold Shook. He proudly served in the US Marine Corps for five years during WWII as a Drill Instructor and Platoon Sergeant. He was a California Highway Patrolman for 25 years and a commercial fisherman for five years. He was a member of CSEA, California Highway Patrol Association, and American Legion. Norris enjoyed various hobbies throughout his life including, flying, sailing, archery, and bowling. He is preceded in death by his wife Audra. He is survived by his sons Larry Shook of Olympia, Washington and Ronald Shook of La Mirada, California; daughters Janis Turnquist of Marysville, California, Jeanne Arterberry of Red Bluff, California, and Jerri Shook of Orland, California. He had eleven grandchildren and seventeen great- grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 7, 2009 at North Valley Calvary Chapel in Yuba City. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the American Lung Association, 10 Landing Circle, Suite 1, Chico, CA. 95973.
