Our History

We at Sierra View Mortuary are proud to share in the rich history of the surrounding communities that make-up the Yuba-Sutter area.

Sierra View Memorial Park opened in 1928; the first recorded burial taking place in September of that year. The first mausoleum, the only one in the area, was built in 1929, and the full-service mortuary was added in 1986.

The cemetery was originally owned by the Carnes family, who also owned Hutchison and Carnes Funeral Home. Hutchison and Carnes no longer exists; as they were purchased by Sierra View many years ago, but their records are still here at Sierra View.

We are honored to have numerous community leaders, veterans of conflicts dating as far back as the Civil War, and entire families among those interred in Sierra View Memorial Park.
